Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Video Production Manager, this position requires an experienced, well-organized team player. Specifically:

  • Video recording: Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and equipment involved in electronic media productions and familiarity with styles, formats, and editing techniques. Some knowledge in lighting techniques is also expected.
  • Editing: Demonstrated knowledge of an experience with professional non-linear editing systems is required (Adobe Premiere Pro).
  • Knowledge of basic electronic engineering principles, techniques, requirements, and set-ups is preferred. Production experience with computer-based delivery systems (Mac OS environment) such as web delivery and audio and video streaming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of photographic principles and techniques, from production to post-production. Ability to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of animation and motion graphics

  • Occasional duty travel

The Videographer/editor is responsible for filming and editing Atiigo projects. It would be extremely advantageous if the applicant had animation experience and audio recording experience.

The Videographer/Editor will be required to become familiar with all aspects of the business, including administration and clerical, writing and research, managing budgets, liaising with clients and subcontractors and travelling for client meetings and training.
 

Duties:

  • Promotes a positive image of Atiigo Media through the creation of video and audio content and through professional appearance, actions, and interaction with project constituents and general public.
  • Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
  • Assists in the production of single and multi-camera presentations by exercising creative and technical control of video/audio recording which may require functioning independently as videographer, the producer, and/or director for the production, supervising the production crew, directing talent for voice, physical presence, and actions, and editing the final production.
  • Exercises creative decision-making while assembling single and multi-camera presentations of recorded video and audio segments into a completed technically and aesthetically effective presentation.
  • Facilitates media production by participating in the construction or modification of sets for studio productions, selecting and lighting suitable settings for location productions, setting up, troubleshooting, and operating media equipment or assisting with the staging and presentation of productions.
  • Facilitates an efficient office operation by assisting with maintaining files of productions, graphics, and special effects, keeping records of expenses, supplies, and other associated costs, and providing required reports of production costs and inventories as directed.
  • Ensures the operational condition of Atiigo equipment by performing repairs, set-ups, and preventive maintenance as appropriate.
  • Helps to ensure that production equipment is technologically up-to-date and meets the needs of the division by researching, evaluating, and recommending equipment purchases.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.)
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the supervisor.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Atiigo Media by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

A strong knowledge of Nunavut and its communities, an understanding of the cultural uniqueness of Nunavummiut and the Inuktitut language as well as social, geographical and market conditions would be highly beneficial.
